Adult Learning

The Mulberry & Bigland Green Centre is a hub for adult and family learning in the local community. Regular classes take place in the six classrooms and the Community Hall.

Mulberry School for Girls and Bigland Green Primary school have been offering adult and family learning since 2007 and in MBGC are now joined by the Children’s Centre, increasing the range of courses on offer. The classes are focused on developing skills, fitness and confidence and can be broken down into the following categories:


Developing Employability Skills:

  • Volunteering in your child’s school

  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

  • Literacy (L1 & E3)

  • Numeracy

  • Maths

  • Teaching Assistant (L2 & L3)

  • Childcare L2

  • ICT – beginner

  • ICT - intermediate

Fitness and healthy eating:

  • Keep fit

  • Healthy lifestyle

  • Badminton

  • Zumba

  • Aerobics

Creative and enterprise activities:

  • Bag making

  • Fruit carving

  • Cake decorating

Parenting Skills:

  • Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities parenting course

  • Speak easy relationship course

Family Learning:

  • Year 7 transition course for parents

  • Additional courses run by the Children’s Centre

Recent projects include: yoga, head massage and poetry writing.
